Warm Clothes and Boots

With winter approaching, my husband and I started thinking about what Baby will wear in the cold months ahead. So one afternoon Baby and I went through the warm winter things she already had. Sadly, most of them are now too small for her to wear. They probably would've fit perfectly in June or July when they weren't needed. Ah well.

I really liked this black mousey outfit from my mom so I snapped a few pictures and decided that the next winter baby should wear it as much as possible.

She's such a cutie.

Some of her other outfits are starting to get a mix-and-match look to them, such as this one with a 9 month flowery onesie, 9 month big pants, a cute red 12 month sweater and her new thrift store boots. They're really warm, but they're two different sizes {should've checked that before buying them} and she kicks them off way too easily.

But they should get her through this winter and then she can go barefoot in the summer while I try to figure out her foot size for next winter's boots.

A Natural Introduction to Nature

As you know, my husband and I love taking walks. On one of them, we stopped to rest by the nearby irrigation canal and I took Baby out of her stroller so she could stretch her little legs and do some exploring.

I sat her on the ground and showed her all the leaves, pine needles, sticks and pine cones. Then I let her at it.

Daddy thought this was great and took a bunch of pictures.

At one point, she was sorting the leaves and pine needles, putting them into separate piles on either side of her. She got bored with that though.

She really liked this stick so we brought it home with us.

She picked up the pine cone by herself when we pointed it out and then she figured out that pine cones don't taste very good.

My husband started laughing when I put the leaves on her head. She didn't even notice.

I think we have a nature baby on our hands. *smiles*

Fashionable Baby Part 2

So some of these are older pictures but that's okay; she's still really cute.

Grandma found a sleeve-less pajama "sack things" that worked beautifully for the month and a half of summer that she was able to fit in it.

Sometimes all you need to be comfy is a diaper and a shirt Mummy picked out.

Daddy's taste in dresses is dazzling; this was on sale when she was born and worn later on at her baptism.

Great Aunty D. on Mummy's side was thoughtful to get this cute warm snowsuit for the baby who wore it for her first snowstorm {which she highly enjoyed}.

While the sun may have been too bright that day, the outfit certainly wasn't. A thrift store onesie paired with a bib from Great Aunty D. and socks from Daddy.

Mummy and Daddy found this warm fleecy pajama "sack thing" at the local thrift store. Every time she'd wear it, she'd spit up on it.

Babies!

This week my Facebook newsfeed has been full of babies. My wonderful cousin K. had her second gorgeous baby boy last Friday. She'd had to be induced and the baby weighed five pounds. He's having some trouble and needs our prayers, but he's so adorable.

And today one of my best friends and adopted sisters had her firstborn baby girl via c-section for low fluid levels. The beautiful baby weighed seven pounds and is the star of her huge adoring family. Mama and Papa are doing well, though probably bombarded by visitors and phone calls.

And one of my husband's friends are expecting their first baby in early June next year. So happy for everyone! Babies are adorable - even when they bite you like mine does. *rueful expression*

Pickles and Apples

So our 10 month old is still learning to eat solid food. Two successful edibles are pickles and apple cores. She loves pickles.

In October, I'd given her a half pickle from my lunch and she gobbled it up. In this particular picture, she looks like my kid brother.

She gleefully sucked on it for quite awhile.

And then she saw the camera.

The cute little poser pushed out some of the pickle to smile easier. She uses her little teeth to scrape out the softer inside of the pickle and then chomps a little on the outside before giving it back to me.

Later that same day, I had an apple. When I'd previously had one, she'd chewed on the core for almost half an hour. This time, she knew exactly what I was eating and demanded to have some.

I had to take several bites while she held the apple for me.

When I finally gave it to her, she was so happy.

She got a little distracted by the camera though.

TV Show Cancellations

So we've been watching a few new shows these past few weeks and were disappointed to learn, yesterday, that two of them had been cancelled. Manhattan Love Story was about two people navigating the traitorous waters of the dating world and we got to hear their inner monologues which were often hilarious. It was quite effectively cancelled for a really dumb reason: not enough viewers.

But that's not the worst of it. While we had kinda enjoyed Manhattan, we really liked Selfie - the modern retake of the classic My Fair Lady and which starred Karen Gillian from Doctor Who and John Cho from Star Trek. It was amazing and so funny! While still "on air," this article makes it clear that its unclear what will happen with the remaining episodes. So disappointing. A fellow blogger was pretty disappointed too.

And as an added bonus, this neat looking Egyptian themed show was canceled before the pilot episode was even aired! I was really looking forward to watching this one too because, well, Egypt! I'm gonna go sulk now with a box of chocolate, some reruns of Castle and a {hopefully} sleeping teething baby. Bye-bye.

A Mushroom

We had a giant mushroom in the yard a few weeks back so I decided to practice my photography skills. I could use one of these as a book cover someday, maybe. *smiles*
