Christmas Day dawned bright and cold. The previous day's events had been canceled due to a very frozen road leading to my parents' house. We contented ourselves with making a lot of phone calls to friends and relatives on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day we got a little dressed up and attended mass at my husband's local Catholic church. Having never been to mass on Christmas Day before, I was intrigued by it. And then bored after awhile.
I'm not sure what he's doing in this picture but he looked cute doing it. I think he was setting his alarm for Christmas Day.
He gets exasperated when I take his pictures but I think he secretly likes it.
See what I mean?
He loves these chocolate oranges so I got him one for Christmas. It was gone in two days.
I'd been wanting a dog for a long time so, in recognition that he understood my request, he got a dog collar.
Once home from church we got to sit around and open our small collection of presents. My husband had presented me with two pairs of colorful fuzzy socks which I loved, and a set of dragonfly note cards. My friends will be happy recipients of these no doubt. I'd got my darling a new wallet which tickled him pink because it had the two bill folds as he'd requested and lots of room for cards. I also got him some new undershirts, the first such purchase I've made; and a book.
We also treated each other to a very nice big box of chocolates. We'd found it at Kmart for twenty dollars {he said ten but anyway}; it was a special 100 yr. anniversary box from the company and had eighty-four pieces of chocolate in it. I was a little disappointed to find that only four were chocolate covered cherries {some of my favorite treats!} but it was delightful anyway and gone in a week.
Yummy yummy.
And we were so happy.
In honor of the special occasion, he got his "tent" out and wore it over his suit. Doesn't he look handsome? I wish he had a top hat and a walking stick to complete the costume.
I wore the lovely dark blue dress that has popped up in previous posts with the red shirt my Aunt Debbie gave me at Thanksgiving several years ago. As requested by my husband, I wore my hair down and stuck my autumn leaf clips in it.
At the end of the long day, after a delicious dinner my husband made, we settled on the couch and watched a movie my folks had given us.
